Changing out door hangers/wreaths is one of my favorite ways to decorate for holidays. And one of my favorite wreaths of all-time is my wood bead Easter bunny.
So, for the holiday season, I made a rustic wood bead Christmas wreath.
Lots of greenery, antlers, some red berries, and furry accents make this door hanger another one of my favorites!
Here’s how I made it!

Gather Your Supplies
The wood bead wreath form that I used was a fall wreath that I found on sale in JC Penney’s home section, but you can find blank ones at craft stores like Hobby Lobby. Or you can make your own wreath form using an embroidery hoop and split wood beads.
Here’s what you’ll need to make this wood bead Christmas wreath:
- large wood bead wreath
- pine needle garland with pinecones
- frosted red berry stems
- lamb’s ear stems
- faux antler picks
- faux fur ribbon
- floral wire
- hot glue gun/glue sticks
- wire cutters

Prep Wreath Form
The first step to this DIY rustic wood bead Christmas wreath is to prep the wreath form.
I removed the fall leaves from the wreath and pulled out the staples with a pair of pliers.

Add Pine Garland
Next, you must add the pine garland to the wreath form.
In order to add the garland, I had to cut it into 3 pieces. The garland I used was 6-foot long, which was way too long for the wreath.
So, I cut two 16-inch sections from each end of the pine garland. I used the ends because the middle of the garland was too thick and was unproportioned to the width of the wreath.
Attach the garland at the bottom and each side of the wreath using floral wire.

Add Frosted Stems
The next thing I did was add the frosted berry stems to fill in my wreath.
I added 3 stems to each side using floral wire.

Add Antlers and Lamb’s Ear Leaves
After filling in some gaps with Lamb’s Ear leaves, I couldn’t wait to add the antler picks.
Instead of attaching the leaves with floral wire, I used hot glue. Meanwhile, the antler picks were attached with wire.
Arranging the antlers was the most frustrating part of the whole process. I bought these faux antler picks at Hobby Lobby and they are identical. Thus, they don’t look symmetrical when you place them opposite of each other like I did.
I kept twisting and turning the picks until I got them as even-looking as possible.

Add the Furry Ribbon
This was the first time I’ve ever used faux fur, so I wasn’t aware of how messy it can be. Just so you know, cutting the ribbon will get fake fur all over the place if you’re not careful.
I wrapped a piece around the bottom of the wreath to cover the area where the antler picks meet. I secured it with hot glue.
Then I cut small sections of ribbon in half lengthwise to make 6 loops and added 3 loops to each side of the wreath. Make sure to tuck the bottom of the loops down into the greenery so that they don’t stick out too far. I attached them using hot glue also.

After another trip to Hobby Lobby for a completely different project, I came home with a wreath pick with 4 gold bells on it. I cut the bells off of the pick and attached them to the wreath. And I think it is a great finishing touch!

I am so happy with how this rustic wood bead Christmas wreath turned out and look forward to it hanging on our front door all season long.
