When I made these open when letters for my husband 3 years ago, it was a relatively obscure concept. I found very few examples of these letters and was pretty much winging it when I made them.
However, since then open when letters have really taken off! Now, you can buy open when cards at Wal-Mart!
These cards take a lot of the work out of making open when letters to send to your soldier or other long-distance loved one!
I couldn’t wait to get started on this batch letters! Thanks to my stash of Project Life supplies, I was able to knock out labeling the open when envelopes in one afternoon!

How to Decorate Open When Envelopes with Project Life Cards
Using the small Project Life cards made decorating the open when envelopes really easy! (I was using cards out of the September Skies kit.)
The last time I made open when letters, I spent a lot of time coming up with different hand-drawn designs for each envelope. I drew each one out in pencil, then went over it in black marker. It was a very time-consuming process.
This time, decorating the open when envelopes was MUCH faster and easier!
Plus, using the Project Life cards gave each envelope more color and a sense of cohesiveness.
I turned them different directions just to change it up a little, but you could make them all the same.
Instead of writing ‘Open When’ a billion times, I used letter stickers. If, like me, you’re not a huge fan of your own handwriting, then this is a great solution to decorating your open when envelopes.
I’m not done with these open when cards yet. I still have to write inside the cards and add different things to them, but I’m happy with how the envelopes turned out!
