As a mom, Halloween is all about dressing up the kids!
I love the idea of coordinating family costumes. You know the ones I’m talking about…those adorable families you see all over social media. Where the whole family dresses up like the cast of their favorite show or movie.
Some people think they’re cheesy, but I love them! My husband and I don’t care much for dressing up on Halloween, but I wanted the girls to ‘be matchies’ for as long as they would allow.
And thankfully, you don’t need a huge budget for cute coordinating Halloween costumes for sisters.
I’m not a costume designer, by a long shot, but I’ve been able to either buy these costumes at a reasonable price or put them together without much effort.
Check out my girls over the past couple of years!
A Witch and Her Black Cat
What’s a witch without her black cat? My oldest picked out this witch costume one night at Wal-Mart and for my youngest I made a black tutu and attached a tail to it. Easy peasy!
What’s a cowgirl without a cute little cow to wrangle? Again, my oldest daughter chose this cowgirl costume at Wal-Mart and it wasn’t hard to find a cow costume for my youngest. You could also find a horse costume!
My beautiful mermaid and scalawag pirate were a hit on our trick-or-treat route! I didn’t plan this one at all. My youngest daughter was obsessed with all things pirates and her sister was equally crazy about mermaids. But it couldn’t have worked out any better!
Sadly, I think I’ve seen the last of the coordinating Halloween costumes for sisters. Now, the girls want to pick out their own costumes and let their different personalities and interests shine!
The ‘matchies’ were fun while they lasted. But there were so many other ideas that I wish I could have done!

Hopefully, my girls will let me coordinate their costumes again one day! But until then, I’ll have my Pinterest feed to look at all these adorable Halloween costumes for sisters!
