12 Places to Hang Stockings Without a Fireplace

When we got married and moved into our first house, I was so excited for the holidays. I couldn’t wait to decorate and put up my own Christmas tree.

Money was tight, but I bought a few decorations and was as happy as a clam at high water putting them up. However, I didn’t know where to hang our stockings.

Where do you hang stockings without a fireplace?

I grew up in a house with a fireplace and mantel. So, of course, that’s where our stockings hung year after year. And thinking back, all of the houses we visited at Christmastime had a fireplace. (Except for Granny’s, but she didn’t have stockings.)

But I definitely wanted to have stockings. My girls deserved that Christmas tradition!

So, I got on Pinterest and found a DIY stocking hanger. My dad gave me a cabinet door that was headed for the dump. After a little paint, some vinyl letters, and decorative knobs, we had ourselves a stocking hanger!

I used this hanger for years, before we finally had a house with a fireplace! (And I eventually bought Oliver, our Yorkie, a matching stocking.)

As a military family, we never stay in one house too long. So, I’ve had to get creative with our stocking situation several times. Here are all the places I’ve found to hang stockings without a fireplace.
