Don’t know what to get for your daughter, granddaughter, or niece? Don’t have a clue where to start looking for gift ideas for middle school girls?
You’re not alone!
My girls are in 6th and 7th grade this year and family members are already asking what they want for Christmas. They have no idea what to get them. The middle school years are tough for gift-giving. They’re ‘too old’ for toys and too young for teenage/adult things.
I asked my girls what they would want and what their friends at school wanted and this is what they told me.
Gift Ideas for Middle School Girls
Trendy/Random Items
Anything that is trending on TikTok is a sure bet that you’re middle schooler will love it! No matter how weird it seems.
- Stanley Cup (even if they already have one – they can’t have too many colors to choose from)
- stickers for water bottles
- Hydroflask
Makeup and Skincare
My girls don’t wear a full face of makeup yet, but they do love mascara and lip gloss. Lainey has even asked for some skincare items, so, that’s one of the things I’m looking for this holiday season.
My girls would be overjoyed with a little gift bag/basket/cup with lip gloss, eye shadows, and lotion. It doesn’t even have to be a name brand for them to love it.
Trendy Beauty Brands:
Gift Ideas:
- makeup brushes and sponges
- face masks
- bath bombs
- moisturizer
- micellar water
- lip oils
- eye shadow palettes
- lip gloss
- mascara
- body scrubs
Hair Stuff
Another ‘girly’ thing that my girls have recently taken an interest in is doing their hair. They love trying new styles and products. So, you couldn’t go wrong with buying them ‘hair stuff’.
Even a card with a scrunch attached would make them happy!
- scrunchies
- hairbrush
- straightener
- blow dryer (bonus points if it’s a blow dryer brush)
- curling iron
- hair masks
- claw clips
- Teleties hair bands
Tech Stuff
I’m currently the ‘meanest mom in the world’ because I won’t let my kids have their own phones.
Gasp….yes, it is 2023 and neither of my middle schoolers owns a phone. However, ALL of their friends have phones. And there are still tech gifts that my girls would love despite not having a phone:
- wireless ear buds (bonus points if they’re AirPods)
- air pod cases
- phone cases
- pop sockets
- Apple gift cards
Clothes
Clothes are typically a hard thing to buy for anyone, but I have yet to meet a middle schooler who didn’t like a hoodie. Here are some clothing gift ideas for middle school girls.
Sounds weird, but my kids love socks. You could buy them a pack of socks with designs printed on them and they would be tickled!
- hoodie (bonus if it’s Nike)
- Crocs
- Croc charms
- Nike socks (any style)
- Lululemon (anything from this brand)
- sweat pants/joggers (bonus if they’re name brand – Nike, Adidas, etc.)
- band shirts (bonus for classics – AC/DC, Rolling Stones, Def Leppard, Metallica, etc.)
Gift Cards
If you’re still unsure of what to buy or what size, color, style, etc. then a gift card is always a great option. My kids LOVE getting gift cards and being able to pick out their own stuff.
Here are the ones they love the most:
- Amazon
- Starbucks
- VISA (this one can be used in almost any store or online)
- Sephora/Ulta
- Bath and Body Works
- Chic-Fil-A
- gift certificate to a local hair/nail salon
Experience Gifts
Like a lot of kids, mine truly do not need any more things. In fact, I could argue that my kids already have too much stuff. So, a great option for a lot of middle schoolers is to buy them an experience. (Plus, it could possibly give you the chance to spend some time together!)
You could get them a gift certificate to a local:
- movie theater
- bowling alley
- skating rink
- trampoline park
- indoor skydiving
- mini golf
- arcade
- state park
- art class
- amusement park
I hope this helped you find something for the middle school girl(s) in your life. If all else fails, give them a card with some money in it!
