The month of May was CRAZY BUSY for the Harrison family. Just look at this schedule!
May was the last month of dance, plus rehearsal and recital, the last month of softball, meaning games and practices every week, and Mother’s Day, which meant more American Greetings hours than I could handle. [Fun Fact: the day before Mother’s Day is the ‘Super Bowl’ of greeting card sales. They sell more cards on this day than any other day of the year!] Plus, my husband left for another rotation at Fort Belvoir at the end of the month.
In spite of the overloaded schedule, I was still able to work on some of my New Year’s Resolutions. Here is what I accomplished in the month of May.
Worked on Spanish
This month I was able to work through 2 more lessons on Duolingo. Which is a lot more time-consuming than it sounds. I also bought a Spanish workbook to get even more practice.
I’m not where I want to be with my Spanish, but I’m getting closer!
Much to my surprise, I doubled my weight loss in the month of May!
Obviously, it’s still not much, but considering that I don’t feel like I have made any lifestyle changes. I still eat and drink what I want, I haven’t exercised at all, we still eat out too often, and milkshakes are still life!
So, for me to lose any weight at all is a win! I doubt I’ll put more effort into weight loss next month since we’ll be travelling a lot, but hopefully I’ll get this lucky again.
Complete Unfinished Projects
One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to complete unfinished projects that I have laying around. One of those unfinished projects is setting up my desk/work area.
Last year, my husband built me a beautiful desk/work table. He made it big enough to spread out anything that I might be working on (i.e wreaths, scrapbooks, etc.). Admittedly, I haven’t used it as much as I had hoped and it has become a catch-all for everyone’s junk.
Before my husband left for D.C, he built me some bookends to help control some of the mess. And I love them!
Create Better Habits
Sadly, I haven’t devoted nearly enough time to creating better habits as I should have. There are multiple articles, experts, and Pinterest quotes that harp on how changing your habits will change your life. And I know it’s the truth, but y’all making new habits is HARD.
This month, I did make a valid effort to try to take my vitamins more regularly. I didn’t take them every single day, but I took them more often than not, so I’m considering that a win! I’m going to try to keep it up next month too!
I am very happy with my New Year’s Resolutions progress for the month of May. There are still plenty of things left to do. I’m not sure if I’ll get them all done this year, but I’m trying!
