One of our favorite North Carolina pastimes is marking items off of our Fort Liberty Bucket List. Which is how we ended up at the Bragg Boulevard Flea Market in Fayetteville.
This flea market resides in an old K-Mart building on Bragg Boulevard. Many vendors are located inside the building, but there are booths set up in the parking lot as well.
You never really know what to expect when you hit up a flea market.
However, there are a few flea market guarantees. There are always vendors selling bootleg DVDs and phone cases/accessories, MLM distributors, a furniture guy, and then there are those vendors that have more of a garage sale vibe – those with the funky junk. And those are my favorites!
Fayetteville’s Bragg Boulevard Flea Market was all of that and more! There were quite a few surprises at this flea market!
Flea Market Surprises
Surprise 1: Entrance Fee
I was surprised to find that the parking lot in front of the building was fenced off. After parking, we had to buy a ticket to enter the flea market. While I think an entrance fee is weird, it’s not a deal breaker.
Our visit was on a Saturday and they charged us $1 per person. But I read online that the flea market is free on Fridays.
Surprise 2: Something for Everyone
The Bragg Boulevard Flea Market Facebook page boasts that you can find everything you need in one place. And that’s not far from the truth.
On just our first visit, we saw giant missile-looking things, empty mortar canisters, wigs and weaves, toys, clothes, fresh produce, and a palm reader. This flea market truly has something for everyone.
And everyone we met at the flea market was so nice!
The furniture guy (every flea market has one!) talked our ears off about the days when he owned a store. The wig/weave lady gave the girls a piece of bubble gum and the produce man let us try an apple for free. This market was full of a very eclectic variety of sweet vendors and I loved it!
Surprise 3: It’s Delicious
Seriously, who knew the flea market tasted this good? I didn’t count all of the food stands/restaurants inside, but there were at least 3. And that’s not including the food trucks outside!
My husband refused to eat anything. He said eating tacos at a flea market was a bad idea and bound to give him the BGs (the bubble guts), but he was wrong. My tacos were freakin’ delicious and I didn’t get sick at all.
In addition to the food, there were at least 2 different Mexican candy stores inside the flea market. We didn’t even try to go in these stores with the kids with us, but I can’t wait to go back another day and look around.
{Not} Surprise 4: Tons of Military Gear
I’m listing this as not a surprise, because well, it’s no surprise that there are vendors offering tons of used military gear outside of the largest military base in the world.
My husband bought 2 Army combat shirts while we were there. They usually run about $45 each and he paid $15. Can’t beat that!
However, our BEST find of the day was an old, scuffed-up dresser that I couldn’t wait to get home and start working on. We turned it into a beautiful farmhouse buffet/charging station!
Our afternoon at the Bragg Boulevard Flea Market was an afternoon well spent. Not only were we able to spend time together as a family, but we brought home what is now one of our favorite pieces of furniture.
