Lonely Turkey Days are sometimes a sad reality for deployed service members. As an Army wife, I send my soldier over-the-top care packages to try to help him celebrate the holidays. So, it was only natural that I would send him a Thanksgiving care package.
These decked out boxes of love are my way of showing him that he has not been forgotten – even during the busy holiday season.
It’s almost November, so that means there’s only a few weeks to get your service member’s Thanksgiving care package in the mail so it will arrive in time! Here are some ideas to inspire you to make your best care package yet! [Click on each picture for the link to the original pin.]
Thanksgiving Care Package Ideas
So Thankful for You
Thanksgiving is the perfect time to remind your long-distance loved one that you are still so thankful for them! This package is simple, but oh so sweet! It would be a good idea to write all the reasons that you are thankful for them on the leaves inside the package.
Happy Thanksgiving
Keep the word-age simple and wish your service member a Happy Thanksgiving! However, add a picture and plenty of fall leaves and cute turkey to dress up your package to make your Thanksgiving care package Instagram-worthy!
Gobble Gobble
You don’t even have to say Happy Thanksgiving, a simple gobble gobble gets the point across! I love that this blogger wrote all the things she’s thankful for about her service member on the leaves on the bottom flap. I’m sure it brought a smile to his face!
So Many Feathers
This turkey is one of my favorites! It requires a little bit more work than the others, but the outcome is stunning! Use scrapbook paper of different colors and prints to make sure your Thanksgiving care package is Instagram-worthy.
Hunting Themed
One of the things my husband hated about being gone at Thanksgiving was missing the opening day of hunting season. Send this hunting-themed care package to remind your loved one that he’s still your trophy buck!
Roast Turkey
Turkey Day isn’t Turkey Day until you get that bird on the table. I love that this package has an illustrated roast turkey on it’s flap. After all, Thanksgiving is all about food and family!
Gobble Till You Wobble
Gobble till you wobble with this Thanksgiving care package that has everything a good Turkey Day package should. Reasons you’re thankful, fall leaves, pictures, and a cute little turkey make this box a success!
I’d Fall For You Every Time
Including pictures in your care packages are always a good idea, especially around the holidays. Add that to a sweet sentiment, such as ‘I’d fall for you every time’ and a countdown, and this care package decor is complete!
We Are Thankful for You
Thanksgiving for parents of young kids just isn’t complete without a turkey hand print! Make sure you include one in your Thanksgiving care package to add a sweet personal touch.
Colorful Turkey
Who can resist this psychedelic-looking turkey? Making all those feathers would be a good project to get the kids involved in. The more colorful the better!
While these care packages are especially relevant for deployed service members, they can be sent to any long-distance loved one.
I hope these Thanksgiving care packages inspire you and give you the push you need to get one in the mail soon! My prayer is that your service member returns home safely and the holidays can be spent together again.
